Caelestris isn't just infrastructure — it's a foundation you compose. Start from the community's work, or build your own, and stitch together a game that's entirely yours.
Most engines hand you a blank canvas and a steep climb. Caelestris hands you a running world — terrain you can reshape, weather that moves, bodies that orbit, entities that live in it — and a way to drop in new capabilities as plugins and mods. Acquire them from a free community workshop or a curated paid marketplace, mix them together, and ship the game only you imagined.
A plugin or mod can be almost anything that plugs into the world. A few examples:
New characters, creatures, and props — rigged, skinned, and ready to drop into the world.
Runs on the entity & animation systemsWhole worlds and regions, authored procedurally or imported as sculpted landscapes.
Runs on the generator & VDB import pipelineProximity chat, guild channels, trade broadcasts — social layers shaped to your game.
Extends the messaging layerInventories, skill trees, quest logs, dialogue wheels — the interface that defines a genre.
Client-side UI modPlace, snap, and stack structures on terrain that remembers every change.
Runs on deformable terrainThemed kits — medieval keeps, neon arcologies, timber homesteads — for your builders to use.
Content pack + material registryPrefabricated encounters and lairs that slot into the landscape wherever you place them.
Runs on the generator & import pipelineRecipes, gathering, and gear progression built on materials with real physical properties.
Uses the material property modelMovement sets, emotes, and cinematics that bring your models and NPCs to life.
Runs on the animation subsystemNew climate behaviours and effects layered onto a live, region-based weather model.
Extends the weather systemEconomies, factions, vehicles, spellcraft — if it plugs into the world, it belongs here.
Composable by designComposition only works when there's something solid to compose on. These are the Caelestris systems your plugins and mods build against.
Material is authoritative per voxel, with rich physical, visual, and gameplay properties — and the pipeline is explicitly designed to accept modded content as a first-class terrain source.
In developmentMine, build, and reshape the world with edits that persist and sync to every player — deformable at every level of detail.
In developmentA weather model spanning eighteen states — from clear skies to hurricanes — with wind, temperature, humidity, and pressure per region.
In developmentMulti-body worlds with real orbital hierarchies, per-body terrain and gravity, and travel between them.
In developmentPlayers, NPCs, vehicles, projectiles, objects, and spacecraft — a typed entity model for whatever your game needs to spawn.
In developmentPlayers cross server boundaries without loading screens, their state carried between nodes by live handoff across the cluster.
In developmentHowever you build your game, the pieces come from one of two places.
A shared library of community-made plugins and mods, free to browse, download, and build on. The commons where creators trade ideas and stand on each other's shoulders.
A curated storefront for premium plugins and mods, where professional creators sell polished, supported content — and get paid for the work that powers other people's games.
The community workshop and marketplace are part of the Caelestris roadmap. The engine systems above are in active development today; the distribution platform that connects creators to builders is on the way.
Caelestris Server is currently in development. Join our early look program and help shape a platform built to be built on.
